In March 2009,when Tata Nano was luanched,a section of the Motor trade Marketr was under threat. They thought that nano would creat  a huge market and that might eat into bikes. But Vanu Sri nivasan, Chairman and managing director of TVS Motor, told the Times of India that ha had a different view that Nano will creat a new market for the four wheelers and affect into bikes. It  was a correct assumption.

Arond 1.26 million motorcycle have been sold in october, one million were motorcycles, while the rest were scooters and mopeds. Most of bikes which was sold in october were more than 150cc and above:- priced at a striking distance to Nano. Now the bike market is witnessing a growth rate of over 50%, said HS Goindi, head of marketing TVS.

Milind Bade, head of marketing at Bajaj Auto, said that bike sales is increasing at a high rate, and it would remain same, in the forthcoming years. The main and top most reason behind it is the low penetration of  two wheelers in India.

The Rural Area in India where 75% of our population lives, has 105 penetration while overall penetration is below 205 in India.

NK Rattan, operating head of marketing at Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India also said the bike sales would continue to remain strong, He has also described the reasons  behind the constant growth rate,he said the rising disposable incomes and inadequete infrastructure is responsible for high demand of personal mobility vehicles like bikes.
